Juan R. Rivera, Jr., MD

Dr. Rivera graduated from La Sierra University in 1992 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.  While completing his studies in business, management and accounting, he took pre-med classes and volunteered at Women’s Health department at Riverside General Hospital.  From the beginning, Dr. Rivera appreciated every aspect of this field.  This motivated him to pursue Obstetrics and Gynecology as a career path.

Graduating from Loma Linda University School of Medicine, Dr. Rivera excelled as a senior resident and quickly developed his clinical reasoning and medical judgement in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He was recruited by Dr. Elmer Harder at South Bay OBGYN Medical Group and here Dr. Rivera has come to sharpen his skills as an excellent clinician and caring physician.

As a new Father, his family comes first as does staying healthy and exercising regularly.  All his training has prepared him for working with a broad culturally diverse population of South San Diego County.  Dr. Rivera is Bilingual in English and Spanish and is affiliated with Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center and Paradise Valley Hospital, National City, California.

In his spare time Dr. Rivera enjoys Traveling, Photography, Music and Biking.  His hobbies reflect his interest in the arts, theater, film and the appreciation for the outdoors.
